as she travels south

clothes all black
long dark curls

of all the prisons
she's been in
gentle eyes
a scared smile

a road map and a lighter
are her only two recrutes
a black biker jacket
torn at the seams
a soul full of freedom
and a heart full of dreams
rings on each finger
a cross around her neck
eye liner that seems to linger
like new paint on a wreck
a pen in her hand
and paper in her lap
